Match-three puzzlers on mobile aren't exactly hard to come by. There are so many to choose from with more being released all the time. Blox is the latest to enter the fray and is available now for iOS and aims for a different approach to many of its match-three brethren.

Instead of the usual exuberant effects we're accustomed to when making matches – where every three you find is celebrated with a fireworks display – Blox is intended to much more understated. Instead, it opts for a very clean-looking minimalistic approach. Now, depending on why you enjoy match-three that lack of animation might not appeal to you.

But if you just enjoy the simple pleasure of matching up colours, then it might be worth trying. Blox is intended to be more meditative, allowing players to zone out as they find matches. It does a little more to mix up the formula beyond aiming for more Zen however by adding its own spin on the ruleset.

Instead of having multiple levels, Blox just has a randomised set of tiles where your only aim is to beat your high score. There will be blocks of various colours on the screen and, of course, you'll need to have three of them touching to clear those tiles and build your score. However, whenever you move a block of one colour, all those that match will also move in that direction if they can.

Love made them not; with acture they may be,

Some of Square Enix's most iconic series ported to mobile, like Chaos Rings, Song Summoner or Drakerider, have recently been taking down from the App Store.

This is strange, because some of these games were fairly popular. However, there have been plenty of reported issues and incompatibility with iOS 9.

It's saddening to see such a big publisher neglect these games so blatantly, to the point of pulling them down completely.

Out of the series above, only Chaos Ring 3 is still available for purchase. The respective websites of each of the games removed already touted at the discontinuation of their distribution.

Despite having already seen Square Enix pull the rug under other premium game's feet, such as The World Ends With You, it is still disheartening to see them progressively pulling the plug on premium titles.

Events like these increasingly show the impact of the lack of a compatibility mode on iOS, which is damaging the catalogue by limiting the access to such landmark games.

[Source]

It was less than a month ago that the Gold Award-winning Space Age had its price dropped on the App Store for the first time. Now it has been dropped for the second time.

Yep, once again, you can buy it for £1.49 / $1.99 instead of paying the full price of £2.49 / $3.99.

Why it has been discounted again already I don't know. Perhaps you should consider this a hint: if you haven't bought it yet, then do so.

Why should you? Well, it's a retro-style space adventure game that mixes humour, drama, and puzzles.

Our reviewer said it's an "excellently-written retro-flavoured romp that is an utter joy."

If you're sold on the idea, then head over to the App Store with your virtual pennies to pick it up.
