While the rest of us are getting over our holiday hangover, indie developer Bear&Cat has been hard at work over on an update to its mobile strategy hit, Legion Wars.

Released on iOS and Android devices last November, Legion Wars is a turn based strategy game that aims to give users a truly challenging opponent – no, not your best friend (although PVP is an option) but an extremely smart and intuitive AI.

When we spoke to the developer shortly after its release, they stressed that “The AI system is the major difference between Legion Wars and other turn-based strategy games.”

In the new update you can enjoy this challenging battle of wits across the brand new Un-dead Legion campaign. This features 10 new levels against an even cannier opponent, who’ll try to break you down with tougher team tactics.

There are eight new units to help you though, each possessing a distinct role. The Skeleton King increases attack and defence for his fellow skeleton units, the Pharmacist heals her comrades and poisons enemies, and the Reaper dishes out death to all and sundry.

There’s also a new building, the Gold Mine, which provides - you guessed it! - gold every turn. But be warned, it’s tough to defend.

Time is limited. Apps are plentiful.

How can you make sense of the ever-increasing number of new games in the App Store? Well, by reading Pocket Gamer, of course. But we can't possibly cover everything, and there are some games that just don't fit in our wheelhouse.

Thankfully, our friends over at 148Apps are here to save the day. By tapping and holding any individual unit you'll be given a list of actions it can perform which can then be easily selected.

The original UI has also been adapted for touch screen too, however, so if you'd prefer not to use the Command Wheel you can still play the game the more 'traditional' way. Beyond that, they've also added more details to the tactical map and made adjustments to squad management so you can quickly filter through different unit types to command your squad that way.

On the first day she was able to go for a drive Gilbert took her down to Four Winds Point, and left her there while he rowed over the channel to see a patient at the fishing village. A rollicking wind was scudding across the harbor and the dunes, whipping the water into white-caps and washing the sandshore with long lines of silvery breakers.
